Prototypical Repair Strategies - Needle Felting, 2022, 10-30 cm x 20-40cm each, Repurposed flannelette bedlinen, wool fleece..
The Prototypical Repair Strategies- Needle Felting explores approaches of technical design strategy to slow and close the life cycle loop of post-consumer bedlinen waste. The objectives of this stage of sampling is to engage with needle felting technology within a limited framework of materials and colour, and to provoke new lines of enquiry for iterative sampling. One flannelette sheet at the end of its functional first life (discoloured, thread-bare and torn beyond traditional repair tactics) has been diverted to explore the needle-felting technology.
Prototypical Repair Strategies are part of my ongoing PhD research ‘Designing new circular economy pathways for post-consumer textile waste in the bedlinen industry,’ at UNSW.
